Vermont Technical College
Vermont Tech students come primarily from New England, however a growing number of students from other parts of the U.S. and several foreign nations add to the diversity that enriches the college experience. Most live in the campus residence halls, giving them ample opportunity to enjoy sports, recreation, social events, and community service-learning opportunities. The Student Life Office arranges weekly activities and events and also provides students with support and counseling. There are many student clubs, from the student-run radio station WVTC-FM to student chapters of professional organizations. The college’s recently expanded Student Health and Physical Education (SHAPE) facility offers a double-court gymnasium; a six-lane indoor pool; two racquetball courts; a brand-new, state-of-the-art fitness center; and a wireless café/lounge. There is also an on-campus ski hill, where students can snowboard and ski after classes conclude for the day. In addition to on-campus activities, students can also hike the nearby Appalachian Trail, canoe on numerous lakes and rivers, camp in the Green Mountain National Forest, bike on miles of country roads, and ski at some of the top resorts in the East. A growing number of students also participate on the College’s varsity and intramural sports teams. Fall varsity sports include men’s baseball and men’s and women’s cross-country, golf, and soccer. Winter sports include men’s and women’s basketball, and come spring the College offers men’s baseball and golf and women’s softball.
