VSAC offers education loans (aid that must be repaid) through the Federal Family Education Loan Program to Vermont residents attending school within or outside the state and to non-residents attending participating Vermont colleges. Through its Vermont Value program, VSAC provides annual interest rebates on all new Stafford (student) and PLUS (parent) loans, as well as a .25 percent interest rate reduction for electronic payments. These benefits result in some of the lowest-cost Stafford and PLUS loans in the U.S.

VSAC also offers supplemental financing for undergraduate and graduate programs. Included are loans for Vermont residents attending any VSAC-approved medical or law school and for non-residents attending the University of Vermont College of Medicine or the Vermont Law School. Financing is also available for residency program and bar exam expenses.

By arrangement with participating colleges, VSAC provides debt counseling to students as they begin their program of study and again when they complete their studies.
