Goddard College
Growing from the spirit of the Plainfield-based innovations, Goddard College has low residency programs that are designed for adults who want to go back to school and either begin a degree or complete a degree that perhaps "got put on hold" because life got in the way. Goddard has been a major innovator in the field of adult learning throughout this century and believes that the life that "got in the way" is actually a valuable source for sharing and learning. The low residency programs are serious full time studies that take approximately 26 hours a week to complete -- but these are hours that students schedule in their own personal and family settings, and are almost free of time spent at the campus. Students in the low residencies are required to be on campus for the first 7 days of each semester. During this residency, learners attend workshops, seminars, and meet with their advisors to develop a study plan that they follow during the semester. Every three weeks they send a "packet" to their advisors as agreed to in their study plan. The advisor critiques this information and sends feedback back to the student. In making the admissions decisions to these programs the emphasis is on the student's maturity as a learner and the ability to accomplish the objectives of the program in a distance format, often working on her or his own. The following low residency programs are
offered at Goddard: MA - Individually Designed
