Castleton State College
Students can pursue a major from more than 35 programs. Castleton is committed to providing an undergraduate education in which career preparation and the liberal arts complement each other. Through an innovative program called Soundings, freshmen earn academic credit by attending a series of special events, which include theater, music, dance, film, debate, and opinion from influential people. New students also participate in the First Year Seminar, giving them the opportunity to develop the skills of a successful college student. Calvin Coolidge Library houses 160,000
volumes, and its electronic card catalog is linked to other major college
libraries in the state. Over two hundred computers on campus
are available for student use. The Fine Arts Center includes
a 500-seat theater, an art gallery, TV studio, and dance
and art studios. The athletic facilities include two gymnasiums, a six-lane pool, racquetball courts, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and coming soon, a stadium and turf fields. |
