An enlarged and renovated science center, named for retired U.S. Senator James Jeffords, opened a short time ago. The building includes new classrooms, laboratories for faculty and student research projects, and a new greenhouse. Spartan Stadium, a 1,600-seat multipurpose artificial turf facility, is the new home of the Castleton field hockey, football, lacrosse and soccer teams. A new and improved Campus Center, Spartan Athletic Complex and an addition to Leavenworth Hall were recently opened as well. The Leavenworth Hall addition is the new home of the Communication Department and includes a television studio and media viewing room. Planning is currently underway to build a 160 bed residence hall and open air pavilion.
