Green Mountain College

Planning Your Travel to Vermont

“Vermont has so much diversity in Higher Ed! And there are many pleasant surprises tucked away in your woods and mountains that counselors across the U.S. should experience.”
—Bus Tour Participant Comment

All registrants will be notified of their status no later than March 23, 2007, in order for travel arrangements to be planned. Complete details, final itinerary, and directions will be forwarded to participants between March 12-16, 2007. If you are taking air transportation, please arrive at the Burlington International Airport in Burlington, VT.

Weather and What to Bring

As the old New England saying goes… “If you don’t like the weather, just wait a minute.” April weather in Vermont can be unpredictable. There may be snow cover in some of the areas visited on the bus tour. It is advisable to pack for temperatures between 33° F (low) and 53° F (high). The following is a list of items past participants have suggested bringing to make your trip comfortable:

  • Cash (for the nights you have time to explore the area “on your own”)
  • Sturdy, comfortable, waterproof, walking shoes or boots (be aware that two campuses include tours of farms)
  • Rain gear or umbrella
  • Warm coat
  • Hat and gloves or mittens
  • Camera (for taking pictures of all the beautiful campuses!)
  • Swimsuit (if you want to enjoy the pool, sauna, or whirlpool available at some accommodations)
